PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Participants accepted into INMF's 2023 Summer Program will compose (or bring) a chamber work to be workshopped and premiered by either the INMF Chamber Ensemble, or our resident ensemble, Brightwork.
PRIORITY APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 31, 2023
JULY 31 - AUG 11, 2023 | ONLINE
Composers participate in Lessons, individual Instrumental Workshops, and Evening Lectures online.
AUGUST 12 - 13, 2023 | LOS ANGELES, CA
Composers are invited to Los Angles to work in-person with the faculty and ensemble, including masterclasses, rehearsal of their composition, and a hands-on conducting workshop. Works will be recorded and premiered as a part of our streaming concert series in the weeks after the festival.

A Los Angeles-based composer and conductor, Dr. Rolle's interdisciplinary approach to composition incorporates psychoacoustics, computer programming, and electronic techniques.

Principal Cello of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Demaine is an incredibly accomplished musician and advocate of new music.

DIANA WADE
Performance Faculty, Viola
Violist and co-founder of new-music duo Spacepants, Wade is a versatile musician with an incredible range of experience from the studio to experimental performance art.

VLAD VIZIREANU
Executive Director
Maestro Vizireanu is an active conductor who is passionate about bringing new music and living composers to his audiences through creative programming.

MARI KIMURA
Guest Artist, Composition
Composer, Performer, Improviser, and Inventor Mari Kimura is truly a one-of a-kind musician, trailblazing an exciting path in performative technology.

ASHLEY WALTERS
Performance Faculty, Cello
Walters performs some of the most demanding and virtuosic new repertoire for cello, including works written through her collaboration with the composer.

JOEL FEIGIN

Feigin's brilliant music combines a deep sense of tradition inspired by his studies with Nadia Boulanger and Roger Sessions, with an ambitious and curious musical imagination.

Grammy-nominated pianist Aron Kallay is a virtuosic and versatile musician, whose experience includes performing intermedia, microtonal and electroacoustic music.

Resident Ensemble
Consisting of world-class musicians, Brightwork is a flexible and fearless ensemble championing the works of today's best living composers.

JEFFREY HOLMES
Composition Faculty
Composer of post-spectral, teleological music incorporating elements of mysticism and lyrical expression. Holmes' music has been described as “Music of raw power and vision" by Fanfare Magazine.

ERIC BYERS
Performance Faculty, Cello
Praised as “ideally eloquent” by the Los Angeles Times, cellist Eric Byers captivates audiences as a soloist, chamber musician, and composer, with repertoire spanning J.S. Bach to today’s most innovative composers including Esa-Pekka Salonen, Thomas Adès, Andrew Norman, Caroline Shaw, and Peter Eötvös.

AMBROISE AUBRUN
Performance Faculty, Violin
With an international career as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, Dr. Aubrun brings exciting and intelligent approach to new music.



ERIN MCKIBBEN
Performance Faculty, Flute
Principal flute for L.A.'s experimental classical ensemble, Wild Up, Grammy-nominated McKibben has extensive experience in new music and working with living composers.



ANDREW THOLL

Solo and chamber musician Andrew Tholl is a performer-composer with a breadth of experience spanning studio, classical, and experimental work.



VERA IVANOVA
Composition Faculty
Composer and faculty at Chapman University and the Colburn School, Ivanova's compositions have been performed worldwide and received many national and international awards.

Career Development Coach
Megan Ihnen (she/her) is a mezzo-soprano devoted to the commissioning, performance, & proliferation of new music. She's also passionate about audience development, music entrepreneurship, and creative placemaking.
