SUMMER FESTIVAL
THE TRAINING FESTIVAL FOR COMPOSERS OF NEW MUSIC

Our Summer Festival is INMF's flagship program, where participants work closely with festival faculty to take critical steps in their creative and career development. Composers accepted into the program each compose a new work for our Festival Chamber Ensemble or Ensemble-In-Residence, study with festival composition faculty, and participate in workshops, masterclasses, and our Evening Lecture Series focusing on professional development. All festival composers have their work premiered and recorded as a part of the program.
SUMMER 2024 | DATES TO BE DETERMINED
The dates of our summer 2024 program will be confirmed in January 2024 (typically, the festival is July-August).
HYBRID PROGRAM | ONLINE & LOS ANGELES, CA
The festival is in hybrid format, with composers participating in lessons, individual instrumental workshops, and evening lectures online during the first week. In the second week, composers are invited to Los Angles to work in-person with the faculty and ensemble, including masterclasses, rehearsal of their composition, a hands-on conducting workshop, and a concert/ recording of their new work.

IMPULSE
WORKSHOPS
Impulse Workshops allow a small number of participants to study under the mentorship of INMF Faculty specializing in the field, providing a uniquely supportive and personalized experience for you to explore important topics hands on, taking your music creation, study, or career to the next step. Ranging from 10-week long programs to single-day events, each workshop focuses on an essential topic in contemporary music making: From fundamentals of craft, to advanced techniques, to professional development, you'll leave every Impulse Workshop with new ideas, tools, and materials to put you a step ahead.
